In 2026, AI coding agents can build almost anything you describe - which makes clearly describing your software more important than ever.
We've shipped a wave of improvements to make Userdoc smarter and more flexible, whether you're scoping a web app, a backend microservice, or anything in between.
Better Non-UI Project Handling

When creating a new Userdoc project, you can now select the type of project you're building - and we've further refined our AI for non-UI systems to not assume a user interface or user interaction.
This includes support for backend services, integrations, APIs, microservices, and data pipeline / ETL project types.
By understanding the foundation of the system you're building, Userdoc's AI can suggest and surface more accurate requirements tailored to your type of project.
Wizard Epics
Userdoc's project wizard now guides you through creating Epics (high-level feature categories) and then creates the user stories within those epics. Epics are fully editable suggestions - valuable for brainstorming and ensuring accurate requirements.

Wizard Non-functional Requirements
The project wizard also now captures non-functional requirements - security, accessibility, privacy, and more. These ensure Userdoc's AI stays aligned with your overall project goals and that quality constraints flow through your entire SDLC.

Epic Story Generation
The wizard is great for getting started, but Userdoc is just as flexible post-wizard. You can now create new epics and generate all user stories within them, taking into account all of your existing requirements.

Smarter User Story Generation for New User Types
When you create a new User Type and generate initial User Stories, Userdoc now takes all existing requirements into account - so you won't get duplicate or conflicting stories across user types.

Easy Requirement Unlinking
Previously, deleting a linked User Story or Non-Functional Requirement required you to manually remove relationships first. Now, Userdoc shows you exactly where those links exist and lets you unlink them in one click before deleting.

Enhanced AI Rules
You can now set both team-level and project-level AI rules. Customize your prompts for specific aspects - such as just user stories - or apply rules across all prompts in Userdoc. You're in complete control.

Collapsible Acceptance Criteria
For complex user stories, acceptance criteria can get long. You can now click the criteria number to collapse its children, making it easier to navigate and keeping your experience clean and focused.

Resizable Sidebar
Customize the sidebar to fit your screen. Drag to resize the width and it will persist at your preferred size - especially handy for projects with deeply nested requirements within folders and epics.

We have a lot more awesome features rolling out shortly. Don't hesitate to reach out if you think of anywhere Userdoc could help you move faster, or build better.
